UVA’s chapter of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth presents an evening of South Indian classical music on Saturday, November 19th at McLeod Hall. The event will feature internationally-renowned flute virtuoso Raman Kalyan, Mysore Srikanth on violin, and Bangalore Praveen on percussion. Kalyan is widely regarded as one of the world’s top Carnatic flutists. His latest recording reached the number 1 spot on the Apple iTunes World Music chart, remaining among the top 50 albums for nearly 6 months. The concert will be preceded by a reception from 6-7pm featuring free Indian snacks. The program is free and open to the public and parking is available in the South Garage. Please join us on November 19th to experience the beauty and majesty of Raman Kalyan’s music.

Kalyan and his trio will lead an interactive workshop the day before the concert, on November 18th, from 3:30-5pm in UVA’s Old Cabell Hall, room 107. Participants will learn about Raman’s approach to music. All are welcome, no experience necessary.
