Unorchestrated, featuring Rita Dove in collaboration with the Akron Symphony Orchestra (ASO), is a new podcast that centers on Ms. Dove’s 2009 book Sonata Mulattica, about the acclaimed nineteenth-century Black violinist George Bridgetower. Each episode of the project combines conversations with Ms. Dove, who grew up in Akron; history; readings of select poems from Sonata Mulattica; and related musical works played by the ASO and their musicians. The series is co-hosted by Christopher Wilkins and Thomas Moore, Music Director and Marketing Director, respectively, of the ASO.
