Announcing a fall exhibit of Charlottesville artist John Trippel.

The University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce announces the opening of its fall art exhibit showcasing 30+ paintings by local artist John Trippel. The show, titled “Touchstones of Charlottesville”, features oil paintings of cityscapes, iconic businesses, vintage homes, and storefronts. After witnessing Charlottesville’s recent transformation from economic growth and expansion, Trippel was inspired to capture the city’s historical architecture before the landscape changed. From West Main Street to the Downtown Mall and Belmont, his paintings are vivid snapshots in time celebrating well‐known and beloved Charlottesville landmarks.

John Trippel is a local artist with past showings at McGuffey Art Center, Rockfish Valley Arts Center, and the Nelson County Library and Courthouse. He is a graduate Mary Baldwin and studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to painting, he works with young adults transitioning from public school to the working community. Trippel is a resident of Nelson County.

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 7, 4:30‐7:00 pm at the  Connaughton Gallery in Rouss & Robertson Halls of the University of Virginia. Parking available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage on Emmet Street. It will be on view through December 15, 2017.
