The Creative Writing Program presents: Nick Flynn
March 2, 2016 | 5pm | Nau Hall 101 | FREE

Nick Flynn–poet, memoirist, and playwright–is especially well known for his memoir ANOTHER BULLSHIT NIGHT IN SUCK CITY, from which the film BEING FLYNN was made, about which he then published a new memoir, THE REENACTMENTS.

Nick Flynn has received fellowships and awards from, among other organizations, the Guggenheim Foundation, the PEN American Center, and the Library of Congress. His poems, essays, and nonfiction have appeared in The New Yorker, the Paris Review, and National Public Radio’s This American Life. He is currently a professor on the creative writing faculty at the University of Houston, where he is in residence each spring. His work has been translated into fifteen languages.

His poetry includes Some Ether and the recent My Feelings, and he is also known for his memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, which was adapted into the film Being Flynn starring Robert De Niro, Paul Dano, and Julianne Moore … which led to The Reenactments, a memoir about having one’s life put on the big screen.

Nick Flynn PosterPublic parking near Nau Hall is scarce, but we have arranged with UVA Parking to lift their normal enforcement on the K2 parking lot adjoining Gibson Hall after 4:30 p.m. Please do not park in “all times” reserved spaces, but other parking spaces in that K2 lot are available after 4:30 p.m. Please enter through Gibson Hall and take an elevator to the first floor (Nau Hall and Gibson Hall are connected, and the reading venue, Nau 101, is to the right of the Starbucks you will see in the main lobby).
