Parma Recordings released the single, “Geometry,” from Matthew Burtner and Rita Dove’s upcoming album, “The Ceiling Floats Away.” Performed by EcoSono Ensemble, “The Ceiling Floats Away”, which was commissioned by the National Endowment for the Arts and received an award in the American Prize. The piece bridges between spoken word and song, performance and technology, and audience and artist. Musicians featured on the record include Lisa Edwards-Burrs, voice; Kelly Sulick, flute; Shawn Earle, clarinet; Kevin Davis, cello; and John Mayhood, piano. The original Nomads software used in The Ceiling Floats Away was created by the Interactive Media Research Group (IMRG) in the UVA Music Department. The single “Geometry” is available now on iTunesAmazonApple Music and Spotify, and the full album will be released on January 12.
