Exhibition opening Friday November 3, 5:30-9:00
The past isn’t ever past, it is always present, as the events of our last summer have reminded us. The portraits in People of Charlottesville merge the past— through it’s 19th century wet plate collodion process— with the present— it’s 21st century subjects. It is a work in progress, not a definitive statement, that explores who we are as a community: young and old, black and white, middle eastern and asian, native born Charlottesville residents and those of us who have moved here from far away locales, like Harrisonburg or West Virginia, Afghanistan or Japan.
