Jon Bellona, 4th year Ph.D. student in the McIntire Department of Music at the University of Virginia presents a sound art and intermedia art installation. The exhibition, Recurrent Constructions, by Harmonic Laboratory, an Art Collective of artists, thinkers, educators and innovators. Harmonic Laboratory consists of Choreographer/Dancer Brad Garner, Composer/Musician Jeremy Schropp, Animator/Programmer John Park, and Intermedia Artist/Programmer Composer Jon Bellona. “The mission is to integrate art, science, and the humanities in the development of creative works that tell stories and unpack the dense cultural content around us.” The installation features seven works in the Duke Gallery in Duke Hall at James Madison University and is on view from September 5 – October 15. Works include #Carbonfeed, where users may listen to sounds created by live tweets from around the world; and Aqua•litative, where 40 years of California water data is converted into kinetic movement and acoustic sound.
Duke Gallery is in Duke Hall located on S Main St in Harrisonburg, VA. See a video of Harmonic Lab “Recurrent Constructions Exhibit” and a news release here. More about Jon can be found on his site.
