We’d like to invite you to an upcoming show, HEDY! The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr, at the University of Virginia.

In this captivating original theatre production, award-winning actress Heather Massie recreates the life and times of Hedy Lamarr, glamorous siren of the silver screen and amateur scientist, whose discoveries are critical for today’s technology. More than just being “the most beautiful woman in the world”, Lamarr and piano composer George Antheil invented frequency-hopping and spread spectrum technology that make today’s world of wireless communication and global positioning tick.

Ms. Massie’s performance has been described as “dynamic” by the Maryland Theatre Guide, and a “tour de force solo performance” by Silicon Republic. Jed Ryan of the Huffington Post states, “in a world where girls and women often face a conflict…about being valued for their looks rather than their minds, the story of Hedy Lamarr remains more fascinating, important, and inspiring [today] than ever.”
