Professor Steven Warner and his M.F.A. students built special Halloween costumes for children with special needs. The project, sponsored by Children’s Assistive Technology Service and Bennett’s Village, is called Hallowheels.Bennett’s Village was started by Brian Gibney, whose son Bennett was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy as an infant and died in 2018. Before Bennett died, he had been working with Warner on a costume built around his wheelchair.“I wish my son was here to be a part of it, but to see the smiles on the kids’ faces is amazing,” Gibney said. “Watching their faces as they put their costumes on, it’s magic. You can’t describe it any other way.”
